So what has happened with the Group in February, then?

  • our Beaver Scouts have continued their expedition around the World for their World Challenges, celebrating the Chinese New Year with food, crafting and partying, and learning about India and playing new games from there – we tried teaching Khabadhi as well as other Beaver games. We have also worked towards our Creative Challenges creating our own Superheroes. The Beaver Colony has also experienced a lot of a moving around this month – we have welcomed four new members to the Colony, whilst saying our farewells to three Beaver Scouts who have made the next Great Step along the Scouting Adventure into the Cub Pack;
  • our Cubs also celebrated the Chinese New Year, using camping stoves to cook with. Founders Day – February 22nd to you and me – was marked with a evening …. The Cub Pack ….;
  • the Scouts finished the half term with an Observation Night before awarding the Lions Patrol the Patrol Challenge. We fielded two teams in the District’s Kettering Leader Trophy, getting a joint second place to our friends from the 3rd Desborough Scout Troop. We ran the Model Maker Badge in the half term holiday, followed by Dave, one of our parent – 59 Club Members leading the Scouts to get their Level 5 Emergency Aid. The new term cracked on with us running the Christian Aid “International Trading Game” as part of the World Challenge, and finally cooking pancakes on our beloved Trangia stoves in a smoke-filled Parish Hall.
  • our Kracken Explorer Unit too has been busy, working towards their Chief Scouts Platinum and Diamond Awards.

February was only a 4 week month – of which one week was half term! March will be a full month to report, I know that as well as the five section night meetings there will be two camps, a visit, and various Easter competitions …. Yes, watch this space next month to find out more!
