The Squirrels spent a fun-filled evening on the Neon Night Hike Walk, walking from Woodcroft to Wickies Park (it’s a long way when you are 4) before spending the night watching “Trolls” then sleeping until being awoken with bacon butties. At our first meeting back after the half term we welcomed 4 new members and Mickey, our well-travelled leader, before trying cheeses from across the world and linking them to the countries;

our Beaver Scouts, being determined not to cook pancakes, spent the first evening of the month linking foods to countries, as part of the Beaver International Challenge. The Colony spent the next evening working out recycling for their Global Issues badge, followed by a night celebrating Chinese New Year making origami paper dragons. And on 29th February, they prepared for St David’s Day with learning Welsh Clog Dancing – and playing springy-type games to celebrate Leap Year!

our Cub Pack succumbed to the lure of pancake cooking – but to comply with Woodcroft’s rules, cooked mini-pancakes over candles in tart tins. To celebrate Chinese New Year, the Year of the Dragon, the pack made their own Chinese dragon. Finally, the meeting closest to Founders Day was commemorated by learning about Robert Baden-Powell and taking part in a quiz;

the Scouts started the month in style with Connor’s patrol winning Glendon District’s Leader Trophy, then returning to compete in the Zombie Apocalypse Wide Game. After February’s Church Parade, 8 Scouts completed the Model Makers Badge. We too celebrated Shrove Tuesday but by cooking pancakes on our favourite Trangia stoves, training the Scouts to use them later in the year for the Expedition, before investing three new members. Half term started quietly with a group of 9 sleeping out on the Brass Monkeys Survival Badge – in our own MudFest 24 – before finishing the month learning about What to do if things go wrong …. for the Outdoor Challenge.

And February was only a 4 week month – of which one week was half term.
